Twenty years working in the skin care industry has taught me so much, but 2 things stand out the most.
1) Everyone is looking for the magic, overnight result pill or cream to flawless skin and 2) The beauty industry is literally polluting the planet.
I totally understand wanting immediate results and I, personally, have bought into all the crazy gimmicks only to be REALLY disappointed. And it wasn't until I addressed the foods I was eating and made some big lifestyle changes, that I really saw results in my skin, my body and mind. There is so much power in doing the work.
While there are highly effective treatments out there, understand that the more chemicals that are in your skin care, the more risks you take for damaging your skin and other organs. When applied to the skin, these chemicals can make their way into your bloodstream, causing a number of problems affecting your nervous system & endocrine system. These chemicals end up harming our environment as well. Where do you think it all goes after it has been washed off? Back into our soil and water. And you are just one of billions using beauty and grooming products.
If you want to make a true difference in your skin the first 2 things you must tackle is cleaning up your diet and addressing stress. Why diet and stress first over investing in skin care? Because if your skin is dehydrated and you are eating foods that are causing accelerated aging or breakouts, then your skin care isn't going to make much of a dent. When my clients eliminated certain inflammatory foods, their cystic breakouts, eczema and psoriasis would disappear over time. I, personally, stopped having eczema breakouts on my face within 6 months of changing my diet and it has never come back.
Addressing stress is just as important as eating healthy. I've seen clients over the years eat a clean diet and not get the results they wanted. Why? Stress is just as toxic as eating bad food. There are so many ways you can eliminate stress just by re-evaluating and addressing your home/work/life balance. Making small shifts in these areas can greatly reduce stress along with good sleep hygiene, meditation, deep breathing, writing and exercise.
Is good skin care necessary? Heck yes!!! Good, daily skin care is useful for healing and repairing wounds, scarring and hyperpigmentation or darks spots. It is also good for protecting your skin from all the harmful elements we are exposed to every day. Also, our skin changes as we age and it is important to use creams, serums and oils to keep our lipid barrier healthy and supple! You don't need a million products in your bathroom to achieve this. A daily regiment should include a cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. 2 to 3 times a week I recommend using an exfoliant is important to remove top, dead layers of skin and increase new cell activity. You can also add in serums to help lighten hyperpigmentation and to boost anti-oxidants that can help with collagen production.
The beauty industry creates 120 billion units of packaging every year. The packaging is the number one contributor to plastic production in the world and offender for plastic waste pollution. In 2015, research found that packaging accounted for 146 million tonnes of plastic every year. The lifespan of the common plastic bottle or cosmetic packaging can be anywhere between 450 and 1000 years.
I research skin care lines from small batch makers who are conscious about the ingredients and packaging of their skin care lines. Many of the products I select are women owned companies that use glass or biodegradable packaging for easy recycling. Some of these lines donate a portion of their proceeds to environmental cleanup. I choose products containing organic, herbal ingredients that keep your skin healthy and give back to the earth.

Why are peels so great?
If you've begun to notice more hyperpigmentation, rough texture, enlarged pores, acne and dullness, this is the time to consider a peel.
As we get older, our skin doesn't shed as often to keep our skin looking fresh and peels are a wonderful way to jump start your skin back to a healthy glow!
The acai berry peel will gently peel your skin without causing your skin to embarrassingly shed. After the peel, your skin may feel slightly rough to the touch for a few days and you may notice micro-granular flakes for a few days after, revealing fresh new skin cells underneath, resulting in more even texture and tone, This peel includes a prep system to use a week prior to applying your peel so that you get the best results! You can also add on a Peptide gel mask in the kit at $6 off to use 7 days after your peel to boost results!

I used this magical hand held tool in my treatment room for removing stubborn black heads around the nose. The nose is tricky and squeezing too hard can break capillaries.
How to use:
Prior to using the machine, I recommend steaming the face or using an oil based cleanser to soften the skin and the blackheads for easier removal.
Place the tip onto the handheld that has the smallest hole for using around the nose. I would start on medium setting as high setting can sometimes cause hickeys.
Hold the skin taught in the areas you will be using. Place the tip on the skin and drag it downward. The key is to move the tip around to avoid bringing blood to the surface and causing bruises or hickeys. The best part about using this machine? You can see all of the gunk coming out of your pores!
For those who have oily T-zones or larger pores, suction is a great way to deep clean. Again, use this after you cleanse to get best results!
High Frequency is a hand held machine that uses a tesla current to deliver Ultra Violet deep into the pore to kill bacteria. This type of ultra violet is safe to use as you are only using it on our skin for seconds. Ultra violet has been used as a way to sterilize and remove all bacteria and viruses from health care and skin care implements. I also use this when I get ingrown hairs and in one use, it reduces the cyst in half and sometimes will disappear over night. It is THAT powerful.
How to use:
I recommend using the glass electrode that has the ball tip. Place the electrode into the handheld machine. With the hand you are holding the machine with, place your index finger on the electrode and turn on low. You should see the light. If you turn on high, you will get a shocking sensation so start with low and slowly turn up. Do not use on the highest setting as this can burn and cause scarring to your pore. Place on low to medium for best results.
Place the ball tip on the affected area and then tap gently up and down for about 30 seconds. You will feel a mild scratching sensation when you do this.
High frequency can also be used for driving products deeper into the skin. Apply your serums or creams, then use the electrode that has a mushroom shape. Turn on and place the flat end on the skin and massage all over the face.
Facial steamers are used in skin treatments to soften congested pores for easy removal of blackheads and congestion. Steaming is also beneficial for opening pores to allow for better product penetration.
When would you NOT use steam?
When skin is red and inflamed.
Steam is also great for relieving sinus and chest congestion from allergies and the common cold. Many steamers also allows for essential oils and herbs to be added in the water for added healing benefits, calming the mind and relieving sinus congestion.
How to use:
Add water and essential oils or herbs as directed for your specific steamer.
Turn steamer on and allow to heat until steam appears.
Place steam about 12 inches away from skin and begin washing your face with cleanser while steam is applied to skin.
I recommend using steam for no more than 10 minutes. It can also be used with enzyme treatments and masks. For best results for a deeper cleanse and easy blackhead removal, steam with cleanser and then use suction after cleansing while skin is still soft from steaming.
